Ben Amos ready to step up against Chelsea

It has come a time when Sir Alex Ferguson’s two best goalkeepers are not fit for game this weekend against Chelsea, prompting the 3rd choice in line Ben Amos to feel the rush to step up and defend his club. Amos is confident that the is capable for the big stage and this opportunity won’t be something he will be giving up.

“I have been waiting a long time for an opportunity this season and thankfully it has come,” Amos said.

“I feel I am ready to play at this level and it has been kind of frustrating that these chances don’t come around.

“But you have to be ready when something like that happens and you are thrown straight in and I like to think I made the most of it.”

Ferguson aiming for a good March and April

As Manchester United sailed through their victory over Stoke City with contributions from Javier Hernandez and Dimitar Berbatov, it was another indirect joy for the Red Devils to know that rival boss Roberto Mancini’s team fell to Everton. Sir Alex Ferguson expects a tough March and April ahead and will be anticipating a win over Manchester City near mid this year.

“This was obviously a significant victory but we are only on the last day of January,” Ferguson told reporters after the game.

“I always see March and April as the important months. We’ve got Manchester City in April for instance.

Alan Hansen vs Alex Ferguson

Former Liverpool defender and now pundit Alan Hansen has recently lashed out that Manchester United claiming that the long time Premier League Champions has not played well in the past 18 months, apparently the phrase ‘don’t win anything with youngsters’ ignited the 70 year old’s flame to defend his squad.

“After the Arsenal game, one of the London papers said we were the worst United team he has seen, and I noticed Alan Hansen was at it again, saying we had not played well for one-and-a-half years.

“I reckon that comment goes alongside his claim a few years ago that you don’t win anything with youngsters, and you know how he ended up with egg on his face after dismissing the Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, David Beckham, Gary Neville crop of kids so foolishly.

“Maybe he was just trying to rattle us on the eve of going to play his old club at Anfield in the cup at the weekend.

“I don’t know how some of the critics come to their conclusions.

“Yes, we have had our bad days (who doesn’t?), losing to Manchester City and then folding against Blackburn before crashing out of the FA Cup.

“Forget the fact that we had 14 players out with injury for the Blackburn fixture and that we were missing a few at Liverpool; we won’t use injuries as a crutch, we will simply concentrate on getting our message across out on the pitch.

“I have every confidence that we will give a good account of ourselves – even perhaps play well enough to convince pundit Hansen.”

West Ham buys Ravel Morrison

Manchester United has finally agreed to the deal with West Ham on their younger player Ravel Morrison, this coming after the North London club Newcastle of their bid for the 18 year old. Morrison is very happy with the trasnfer and hopes to shine in his new club.

He told the club’s official website: “I’m really pleased to have signed.

“The move has happened very quickly and I’m looking forward to hopefully moving up to the Premier League with West Ham soon. I’m an attacking player and I’m hoping to get the fans on their feet.

“I met with Sam Allardyce this morning and he welcomed me to the club. I also played with Robert Hall in the England team and I know him well so that will be really helpful to have someone here that I know.”

Ryan Giggs wants to carry on

Ryan Giggs feels good despite being the age where most athletes retire, but when the Welshman was quizzed on whether to continue on for now at his current club, Giggs was no where shy of giving a positive answer to that.

Giggs replied: “Yeah, it is at the moment. We’ll sit down pretty soon and see what we want to do but, at the moment, I feel good and I want to carry on.”

Then comes the other critical yet something to think about question, which is the case of whether the Manchester United veteran will be capable to carry on his legary towards his forties.

On the possibility of playing for the Red Devils into his forties he responded: “Now that one’s a question! You can’t see it but we’ll see.

“When that changes [having a big influence on the pitch], then that’s when I’ll want to stop.

“But I feel like I’m still an influence on and off the pitch so I’ll carry on.”
